Bioware Brings SWTOR to PaxPrime 2011!
If you are a current follower of the game Star Wars The Old Republic MMO currently in development by Bioware, then you already know about them bringing the SWTOR love to PaxPrime 2011 in Seattle Washington, August 26th through the 28th. If not then read on because you need to know this info!
It is a grand time for SWTOR geeks out there this weekend for this is the 2011 version of PaxPrime. We always have good information drops about the game during this show and this year we expect no less. This one seems to be some of the developers favorite as far as conventions go and we hope they are having a great time showing the game realm to the public that we love here at Swtor-Life.
Unfortunately if you haven’t acquired your badge at this point it is sold out. The show will run from Friday the 26th through Sunday the 28th. They will be located at booth 914
What can we expect as far as info drops this year?
Well on the SWTOR home page we see this following announcement regarding what will be available to play and experience.
Each year the Penny Arcade Expo attracts tens of thousands of gamers to Seattle, Washington to preview some of the latest upcoming titles. Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ will have a big presence at this year’s PAX Prime with BioWare and LucasArts in attendance to reveal new information while letting attendees score some hands-on time with the game.
Throughout the weekend of PAX those who visit us at Booth 914 will be able to play through content from each of the four Origin Worlds. Attendees will also have the opportunity to get some experience with Player-vs-Player combat in the Alderaan Warzone, where Republic and Imperial teams clash in an effort to control and hold three different points on the battlefield.
Plus we have no idea what else they might choose to reveal at the show so the list of available content to play may even be bigger than this. Just like the surprise update we got from them at GamesCom of HuttBall, hopefully we will get some sort of big surprise like that again at this convention?
(Me personally? I am hoping for a big crew skills walk through and reveal of the crew skills system, but that is just my hopes and dreams.)
With the eventuality of the beta testing weekends coming up in September and the recent operation of the guild testing process going on now, I don’t think its a stretch to assume we might get some information about beta and when we will be allowed into testing. That would be awesome and I hope that the September testing start date is part of the news we will receive from the show.
Will we see a release date?
It is quite possible I would say. Based on my prediction of when I think SWTOR will release I think the time frame is ripe for it, but who is to say what the marketing gurus for Bioware have up their sleeve. On a personal level I hope they do give us this date at the show and I think that this other appearance noted in the above mentioned post might be a good time to do it.
Star Wars: The Old Republic Panel
Starting at 2PM on Sunday, August 28th, BioWare and LucasArts will be holding a Star Wars: The Old Republic panel at the Paramount Theatre, where fans will have the opportunity to be among the first to hear new reveals, take part in a Q&A session with developers and see a live demonstration of the opening minutes of the Eternity Vault, a high-level Operation taking place on the planet of Belsavis.
Next up on the list of possibles on info drops could be this little gem that came from an interview that MMORPG.com had with Rich Vogel and James Ohlen at SDCC. They are talking about a big reveal having to do with the companions that is supposed to hit during Pax Prime.
Finally, there seems to be some companion-related news in the not-too-distant future at PAX:
There was more to the Companion system that I asked about, but they were saving it for a big reveal at PAX Prime in a couple of weeks. Will you be there?
Lastly, for those that will be attending there will also be a meet and greet at this location and time, where you can have a great opportunity to get to meet some of the developers of the game and get to know how awesome they really are.
Community Meet & Greet
On Saturday, August 27th we will be holding a Community Meet and Greet at the Grand Hyatt Seattle hotel, located less than half a mile from the Washington State Convention Center. We’ll be starting at 7PM, so be sure to stop by to meet other fans of The Old Republic community as well as spend time with members of the BioWare team.
We haven’t forgotten about those of you who are unable to make it to PAX Prime. Be sure to check www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com throughout the expo, as well as our Community Forums, Twitter feed and our official Facebook page for all the latest news and information from the PAX showfloor!
If your interested there will also be another meet and greet going on sponsored by the Darth Hater group as well. There is reported to be many fan sites we all know and love going, plus many interesting people from the community at what was dubbed “The Community Cantina”.
All in all it should be a great time and one that I hope is filled with big news and big reveals, stay tuned to this site for all the latest info from the show as soon as it drops!
Come on Bioware bring the love!

are you attending ????? Who will blackmail the Reid to give us crew skill updates if you are not there?
Man really seriously I just can’t wait much longer for this game! It’s driving me crazy! Hope we get some great stuff from pax! Just really excited!
@Zlatto I know right? there is no one standing in the gap for me hunting down that crew skills info like I would have been for sure. Nah unfortunately I wont be able to make it to Pax. 🙁
Why you ask?
Well that must have been because I spent every last cent I had and every cent Serge had, on the fail known as E3 and now I have no money to attend Pax. 🙁
@cantwaitanylonger I know man me too, it is seriously starting to drive me up the freaking wall. I have had 20 hours plus play time in this game so far at all the cons and fansite summit and all that and it just makes it worse. People who actually haven’t played the game yet are almost better off in my opinion because they haven’t had awesome in their hands and then have it taken away from them.
Yeah, I’m impatient too for the live game, but pax already? Where did the time go?!
@Adric I know it does seem like these last 6 months or so in TOR time have went by pretty quick so I guess that has helped to calm my swtor withdrawls some, but dang it I am ready. 🙂
