Professional Analyst Predicting That SWTOR Will Sell 3 Million Copies First Year!

Today we get word from Doug Creutz, analyst with Cowan FInancial Group and a article from Forbes website that they project that SWTOR might hit 3 million copies sold within the first year. With a quote from his statement we hear that…..
Since Star Wars became available for pre-orders three weeks ago, it has tracked very strongly on the Amazon.com top-selling video games list. We believe it is trending as well or better than two of the top-selling PC titles last year, Blizzard’s Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft Cataclysm, both of which went on to sell over 4 million units. We are raising our ‘Star Wars’ first year sell-though estimate to 3 million units from 1.5 million units and our run-rate subscriber estimate to 2 million from 1 million.
This is great news for both EA and Bioware as this goes even farther to improve the expected profitability of Star Wars the Old Republic MMO. Assuming it launches and does this well within the first year, that will be amazing. That bodes well for us as SWTOR lovers because the more money they make the longer our game universe will survive and the more content they can continually validate throwing money at.
Plus, it has the added effect of making sure that you really have people in the game realm to play with, to sell to, to craft for and etc. Nothing makes a game less fun than if you never have people to interact with because the servers are dead.
All in all this is great news and I am happy to hear these kinds of predictions for the success of SWTOR. Makes me feel validated now as well because all the friends who laughed at me when I told them I thought SWTOR would sell 3 to 3.5 million copies in the first year.
Well now there is a professional analyst saying it so eat it!

Personally I think 3 million is a conservative estimate. I would not be surprised to see it go over 4 million if it comes out of the gate strong people will flock from other games.
I agree with you. If this game has a fairly stable launch and they get any server stability issues under control quickly, this game has the potential to have one of the most massive launches in history.
