Tuesday Release for SWTOR? You Decide.
Today from twitter we see what appears to be a hint from the “Conductor” that SWTOR intends to stay with the traditional pattern of a Tuesday release. From the tweet interaction of Alejandro141614 to Stephen reid of Bioware we get this hint…..
On twitter Alejandro141161 asked Stephen Reid: are you guys trying to hit a traditional Tuesday release or is any day equally as possible?
In which Stephen replied “Were going traditional!”
Well that can help to narrow it down a bit. If we take into consideration that the testing weekends start in September and assuming that they at least will last a month, maybe more. We might then assume that they will need at least the month of October to work on resolving any issues that appeared during testing. Assuming that they are still on track for a “holiday 2011” release time frame we might assume that the start of the Thanksgiving holiday season (on or about Nov 1st) or the Christmas season might be fair bets for a release date.
If they are going to do it before calendar year 2011 ends, and if they are going to do it on a Tuesday then that means that you will need to take the following days off from work in November and December just to be safe. 🙂
November Tuesdays are: the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22, 29th
December Tuesdays are: 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
So if you schedule those days off then you should be able to be around when release hits!

Tuesday October 25th is also a possible release date.
Ah but you’re forgetting about the days prior you’ll need off due to early access 🙂

I guess it’s time to move to 4 10 days till release. I have been saving my ‘comp’ time for a few days off after go live. Need to get the crafting mojo moving early !!!!

oh .. ya my wife bought me the game as my stocking stuffer. I have already let her know that our quality time will be a bit light at launch.
I also had a chat with the boss …… letting him know if I am traveling for work the alienware is coming along and I am only staying in hotels with good internet 😛
Ok I just through of a site, who I though had Thursday as release date, by random, but now there might be something to that date, even if it is very close to the beta…

@Esben I really dont think so because it is not on a tuesday and that’s just too close they wont have time to finish the beta weekends. I think September is a little too soon.
Tuesday, November 8th or 22nd is my guess. The new Elder Scrolls comes out on the 11th, and they probably want to avoid following that too closely. Anyone who’s been a Bioware fan for long will probably be into Bethesda titles too. So either they’ll pre-empt it or wait a couple weeks IMO.
Also, it seems very rare to me that any game or movie (on DVD) is not released on a Tuesday. I really can’t recall any other than ES:V which is slated for a Friday, but only because they wanted an easy-to-remember release date of 11/11/11.
although I suppose a 12/25/2011 release date would make a great Christmas present to the world! 🙂

And yeah true it is very close to “open-beta”, but again as pwntothemax points out, it is probably not going to be released close to The elder scrolls 5…
So either in October (also unlikely due to the short window they have to fix the game after open-beta), November 1st, 22nd or 29th or right up til Christmas :D!

Im guessing Nov 29 will be release, giving the early access pre orders Thanksgiving weekend to geek out!!
Expecting late jan/early feb release here, but hoping they do make their 2011 goal 🙂
I work at tesco (lucky me…) and on our system release date is 22/11/11 which is a thursday. I mean its not necessarily true but we can hope 😛 I guess it seems reasonable if early access starts in september/october

Going from the info Stephen gave us and the release history in the past with so many MMO releasing on a Tuesday I am betting that’s just a placeholder date. I could be wrong though but I feel pretty confident it will be a tuesday.
