May Fourth News Bonanza
Yesterday was Star Wars day (May the Fourth be with you…) and beside the Blue Ray version of all Star Wars films being announced we had a lot of TOR related news. European version of game testing has been announced. Conference call between EA financial management and the investors has been held and SWTOR was mentioned. This also produced an official release window for the game to be moved to the second half of 2011.
Apparently an email was sent yesterday to many who have, at some point in time, opted in for receiving emails from Electronic Arts about their promotions. This email said that Game testing for Star Wars: The Old Republic will be extended to Europe soon and that they encourage Europeans to sign up for game testing. If you are from Europe and you already applied for game testing on the official www.swtor.com site you are OK. This was just a marketing email to remind you to do so, just in case. Stephen Reid posted on the thread in the official forum to clarify some things and you can find his responses here, here and here.
John Riccitiello, CEO of Electornic Arts, held his regular phone conference with the investors (and a lot of press was listening in as well). They discussed regular financial stuff, but as big part of their financial planning, SWTOR was mentioned and asked about as well. Ask a Jedi did a Live Blog transcript of the call and you can see that nothing too major was mentioned and most of it was regular marketing talk we heard so many times before. What did stick out for everyone was that they said they expect the game to launch in the second half of 2011. This was later confirmed on the official forums by Stephen Reid. If you want to hear the whole audio recording of the investor’s conference call you can find it at TOR Syndicate.
